Pigs equipped with a gauge plate provide a first impression of whether significant obstructions are to be expected in the pipeline and whether the subsequent tools can safely pass through the pipeline.
Gauging plates come in different shapes. Depending on the diameter and tool body, you can use solid or slotted plates. Slots cut into the circumference provide easier identification of deflections.
The standard gauge plates are made of aluminum, slotted or non-slotted ones are available.
Diameter of Gauging Plates
The most common size for a gauging plate is 90-95% of the pipeline ID. ROSEN usually provides gauge plates of 95% of the pipeline ID and delivers tailored gauging plates with any OD.
Standard gauging plates are available for the following pipeline diameters:
- Single-bolt steel body design: 3" to 14"
- Multi-bolt steel body design: 6" to 56"
When ordering a gauging plate, please provide your pipeline's ID in the notes for final verification. If the required diameter differs from the standard, please also include a note with your order.
